With her first guitar under her arm and a clutch of CDs by Joan Baez, Jeff Buckley, Portishead, PJ Harvey, Edith Piaf, Francoiz Breut and the like; Aurélie began writing her first songs. These aren’t the songs on Angel in Ballet Shoes, of course they aren’t. After all, who could write a good song first time? But they were the beginnings of the songs on Angel in Ballet Shoes.
One day, her friend Amelia recorded Aurélie performing three songs. The recording was terrible, done on a ghetto-blaster with an in-built microphone. But Amelia played it to her friend Nick, who was immediately excited, and set about creating a musical partnership that would surpass all others. Perhaps not, but it’s a damn good try.
Take a look at the pictures and listen to some tracks.
